The Past Two Weeks on StrengthCoach.com
Well once again it’s been two weeks since my last update. Scary how time flies. We have a bunch of great articles including two from Gray Cook.
First from Gray was: The Weakest Link: Can’t We Just Cover the Correctives in the Warm-up? This is an interesting look at what has become a mini debate between Gray and I.
Next up was The astrology of soccer (about training pre-adolescents
This is the second soccer article from Chi Chiu. The article expands a little bit on the Outliers idea of birth month having an effect on success.
I followed up by reprinting : Summer Training Program for a Nine Year Old
This was my tongue-in-cheek response to a friends request for a training program. I had actually printed this on my blog but, the number of youth questions we received made me also want to put it on this site.
Next was another from Gray called : Damn Detours This is another insightful look by Gray at the “why screen” debate.
We also had : Should Sprinters Squat? Part 3 This is the third of a three part series that looks at the whole bilateral deficit/ single leg squat controversy.
Our last article of the two week period was: Battling Ropes Learning From the Master by Bruce Kelly . This is another great review of John Brookfield’s Battling Ropes course. Bruce in a continuing ed junkie and lucky for us also likes to write.
We also had two videos of the week:
Video of the Week – Side Plank Row This is one of my new favorite core exercises because it makes you do things better. Most peoples side plank is actually improved by the action of the row. |
I also managed to pull a great assisted glute ham clip off Youtube that the creator Evan Herrick was nice enough to share with us.
If you haven’t been on the site in a few weeks, make sure you log on and check out another excellent week of articles.
Also, make sure you check out the StrengthCoach Podcast Anthony interviewed Tim Skwiat about the Train for the Game Vertical Core concept and it makes for a great interview.
It’s been a great two weeks and things are really rolling.

Roy on that particular demo I would agree. What is demonstrated is really a progression. However in our other videos they are done correctly. I think it’s funny that Dr Yessis adopts the “everyone is wrong and if you buy my machine i will show you the right way” approach.
This is a much more detailed look Inside the MBSC Staff Meeting

Coach Boyle,
Is it a misnomer to call that movement a glute-ham raise (in spite of the isometric action of the glutes) as per this post by Dr. Michael Yessis?

Or is Dr. Yessis making a bit too much out of the GHR/GHGR vs. manual knee/leg curl issue?
