AirDyne Intervals 4/15/11
Great Airdyne workout today. Used the big fan bikes at BU. These are clearly the hardest of the three versions of Airdyne.
4×1 mi with my good friend Ken
2:41 work 1:00 Rest back to 110 BPM ( hearrate at the end of interval 1 was about 160)
2:41 work, 2 min rest
2:42 work, 2:20 rest
2:43 work
Give this one a try. For the new small fan Airdyne think around 2:30 per mile.

Mike,
What are you doing during recovery? Sitting, standing, walking, easy pedaling, etc?

I’ll have to try a timed mile. Haven’t done that in while. I know I did 2:25 on the big fan.

Thanks Mike.. I will be getting the Evolution Comp.

I opted for the Evo Comp and have been very happy with it. Based upon what I read and my own experience, it seems that many arrive with the fan cage misaligned so that it’s rubbing against the belt. It’s an easy adjustment to make. Just something to be aware of.
Mike,
What level/rpms do you shoot for with your 4x 1 miles?

Love the Evo Comps. PT clients love the “race you a mile” finisher. This is simply 1 mile AFAP. Gym record for clients is 2:09. Painful, but easy on the joints etc. Great workout Mike!

Mike- there are only two versions however on the comp they redesigned the computer. The newer models are slightly faster. My 5 mi time is about 20 sec lower on the newer one. I think the Evolution Comp is a slightly better bike than the big fan.

Mike,
I though there was only two versions – the regular one and the Evolution Comp?
I want to buy one.
Which one would you suggest?
Thanks,
Mike
